Chat rules

The IRC chat at irc.doner.cloud is a free app for talking on IRC networks. This page says what is allowed, what is not, and how to reach me.

This is a translation. If it differs from the Polish version, the Polish version applies.

What the chat is

It is an app in the browser and a gateway on the doner.cloud server through which the browser connects to IRC networks such as Libera.Chat or PIRC.pl. The networks themselves are run by other administrators under their own rules; the chat only passes messages between you and the network. Without an account it does not store them on the server, and on your device only if you turn on the history in the settings yourself; people with an account have their networks' history on the server (see the privacy page).

I, Adam Tomaś, run the chat as a hobby. It is free, without ads and without an account; accounts with more features go to people I invite. It works as it is: it may have breaks, and IRC networks may change their rules or refuse connections.

Who may use it

Anyone aged 16 or over. By using the chat, you accept these rules and the rules of the networks and channels you join.

Accounts

I make accounts (a login and a password) for people I invite. Do not share yours, and look after the password: you answer for what happens from your account. When an account is used against these rules, I may block or delete it, with its networks and history.

What is not allowed

How I keep order

The gateway has limits: on connections from one address, new connections a minute and messages a second. Each connection has an identifier (ident) on the IRC network made from your IP address, so network operators can block one person instead of the whole chat. When someone breaks these rules, I may end their connection without notice or block access from that address or identifier.

Reports and contact

Report content in channels to the channel or network operators first, as they manage it. Abuse of the chat itself (spam, bots, getting around bans), questions and remarks can go to aex.tomas@gmail.com, in Polish or English. The same address is the point of contact for authorities of EU countries, the European Commission and the European Board for Digital Services under Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act (DSA).

Responsibility

You are responsible for what you write on IRC networks. The chat only passes messages on and is not responsible for other users' content or for how IRC networks work.

Changes

These rules may change, for example when the chat starts working differently. The current version is always on this page.
